Why You Need To Start A Side Business Now
Are you feeling like your 9-5 job is smothering your creativity and dreams? Do you want to break free from the daily grind and make a real difference in your life? It might be time for you to consider starting a side business!
This isn’t just some pipe dream, it’s an achievable goal. A side business or side hustle can give you the freedom and independence to take control of your life.
With a bit of creativity, hard work, and ambition, you can create something that will improve your life in ways you never imagined possible. Read on to find out why starting a side business is key to taking charge of your future!
Why Start A Side Business?
Starting a side business is the key to breaking free from your soul-crushing day job or career. It allows you to design your life the way you want it, on your own terms. It’s an opportunity to try something new and different, and it gives you the freedom to work when and how you want.
Plus, by having a side business, you have a chance to make your own money on top of your regular job income – that extra cash can be used for anything from investing in yourself or others, taking vacations, or simply saving for a future goal.
Once you start seeing success with your side business, it can even open the doors to bigger and better opportunities down the road. It’s a way to make sure that you’re not stuck in one place forever – you can always move up and progress if you put in the work!
When is the best time to start a business?
They say the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, and the second best time to plant a tree is now! It’s important to take action on your dreams immediately because dreams trapped in your mind tend to atrophy and die.
Next time you get an idea that ignites a fire inside of you, don’t just play it safe and tell people about it and never do it, actually take action and see if your dream has potential. You never know where it will go, and I promise you the journey you take will be better than brushing the idea aside and continuing on the same old job path.
You don’t have to start with anything big or complicated – start small, and work your way up. It could be something as simple as creating an online store, consulting on a topic you’re passionate about, or even offering services locally. Let’s look at some of my favorite side businesses to start.
What side business is right for you?
This is meant to be a list of general side hustle concepts. I’ll create a separate post comprised of all the side hustle ideas I find and keep it constantly updated. Feel free to pick something off of this list and try it. If it doesn’t work out, or you realize you don’t enjoy doing it, move on to the next one. I should note, there is always work to be done with any business (setting up an LLC, paying for a website and hosting, purchasing inventory if necessary, etc…), you need to get the technical stuff out of the way first, and after that, the fun begins. This could be the start of something great. Good luck!
Affiliate Marketing:
Affiliate marketing is when you promote someone else’s product or service and get a commission per sale.
Freelance Writing/Editing:
If you have a writing background, freelance writing/editing can be a great way to make extra money.
Dropshipping:
Dropshipping is an e-commerce business model where you don’t keep any inventory in stock.

Writing an eBook is a great way to create passive income from something you’re passionate about!

If you’re an expert in your field, consider offering consulting services to businesses in need of professional advice.
Camper/RV rental:
If you own a camper or RV, consider renting it out. There are a lot of great apps for renting out your camper/RV like Outdoorsy, RVshare, RVezy, etc… Also be sure to check out Peter Heinzl’s site to learn everything you’d ever need to know about camping and the outdoors.
Rent Out Your Land:
If you own a large piece of land, consider renting it out to people who want to camp, host events, weddings, etc…
Rent Your Car:
Apps like Turo make it easy for you to make money by renting out your vehicle while it’s not in use. I know people who own over 17 vehicles that they rent out.

There is wayyyyy more to OnlyFans than just nudity. If you already have a following of people, using only fans allows you to put exclusive content behind a paywall, no matter what the subject matter is.
Start A Podcast:
Got a lot to say about something, record it, and put it on a podcast. Even though the podcasting market is oversaturated, this passion project of yours could take off and make you some real money from sponsors.
Mowing And Snow Removal:
This is a great business idea for teenagers and adults alike just getting started with side hustles. Start by going door to door in your neighborhood asking to mow lawns or remove snow, and once you’ve built up enough income, reinvest it into more mowers, snowblowers, weed hackers, trucks, trailers, etc…

Rent out your house, condo, or apartment on Airbnb and VRBO. This is a great way to learn about real estate, renting, and can even grow into a real estate empire.
Rideshare Driving:
Driving for rideshare apps like Uber or Lift is a great way to start out making side money. Although you are limited on the amount you can make here.
Food Delivery:
There are many platforms that allow you to deliver food like Uber Eats, Eat Street, Grub Hub, Door Dash, etc… Once again, you are limited to the amount of money you can make with this one.
Food Truck/Trailer:
If you’re passionate about food, starting a food truck or food trailer might be right up your alley.
What Are The Best Side Hustles To Start?
This depends on your goals for your side hustle. By far the best return on investment is starting a blog (like this) to earn passive affiliate income. However, blogging takes time, so it’s not a great side hustle to start if you need to make money now.
The quickest way to make money online is to offer your services on Fiverr and Upwork which could include consulting, writing/editing, social media marketing, etc…
If you already own an RV/Camper/Vehicle, renting those out is as simple as creating an account on any one of the apps like Outdoorsy or Turo. Once your listing is live you should start to see rental requests coming in.
Things To Keep In Mind When Starting Your Own Side Hustle
Starting a side hustle will most likely come with a few hurdles to overcome like start-up costs, self-employment taxes, creating a business entity, etc… Thankfully there are options available like Tailor Brands which is an all-in-one business starting platform that takes care of almost everything you need to get your new business up and running.
Tailor Brands helps you file your LLC, design a logo, build a website, print business cards, create branded merchandise, and more! I wish I had known about Tailor Brands sooner when I started my own side business, it would have saved me a lot of headaches.
Conclusion
Starting your own business is the key to improving your life and taking charge of your future. It can open doors to bigger and better opportunities, and it allows you to make more money on top of your current job – freeing up extra cash for investing in yourself or others, taking vacations, or saving for a future goal.
There are a ton of different side hustles and businesses you can start, so it’s important to find the right one for your skillset. The best way to get started is to do research, ask questions on forums like Reddit or Quora, and most importantly take that first step today! Good luck!
